The Sims Resource

The Sims Resource (or TSR, as it's known) is a The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 fansite offering custom content for both computer games to download. It was formed in 1999 by a group of players who were tired of the limitations placed on them by the official EA Games Sims site. It has to date over 866,000 custom floors, walls, objects, clothing, hair, and make-up to download for both The Sims, "The Sims 2" and The Sims 2. As of 2010, it has 2.2 million members and about 680,000 mods.

The site was founded by Steve Bonham, Thomas Isacsson, Johan Isacsson, Jan Isacsson, and Mikeal Sundberg. It has daily updates, and has a core group of featured artists, who create some of the most popular and best looking items on the site.

All downloads are available for free, registration is not required. At first the site offered a subscription-based premium membership option, allowing paid users access to premium content, but this was eventually changed in October 2013 when users are now allowed to download every single content on the site, including those previously offered exclusively for subscribers. Premium users, however, can still benefit from perks such as ad-free browsing and faster, more convenient download options.

There are active forums on the site, offering everything from help creating meshes, to game play tricks, to just general chatting. There is also live streaming chat. The forums are heavily moderated, and no chatting is allowed above the PG-13 level. The moderators and staff of The Sims Resource strive to keep the entire site child friendly, and do not allow any conversation or content to be shown that could be considered adult.
