Thornford railway station serves the village of Thornford, four miles to the south west of Sherborne in Dorset, England. It is managed by Great Western Railway and is served by trains on the Heart of Wessex Line between Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth. This is a request stop so passengers must signal clearly to the driver if they wish to board the train.

History

The station was opened by the Great Western Railway on 23 March 1936 as Thornford Bridge Halt. It was renamed in the 1960s to its present shorter name.

Services

There is generally a two-hourly service southbound to Weymouth and northbound to Bristol Temple Meads and beyond. Sundays there is an infrequent service in each direction.
