Todabhim is a city and a "municipality" in Karauli district in the Indian state of Rajasthan

Todabhim is a prominent historical site since this is where Shri Jagannath Singh Ji's family is believed to have ruled for over 500 years in Todabhim city.[citation needed]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Todabhim had a population of 20,845. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Todabhim has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 40%. In Todabhim, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.[citation needed]

Villages

There are numerous villages under the jurisdiction of Todabhim tehsil. These villages have healthy population of Gurjars, Meenas, Kumhars, Naai and other castes. The Gurjar villages in these areas have the distinction of representing the country in Armed forces in high numbers almost from every family. The villages are still backward and have started receiving electricity only recently.There is acute shortage of water in some of the villages.Agriculture and animal husbandry are the main occupation of meena people in villages and the main kharif crops are bajra,lentil(moong) etc, the rabi crops include wheat,mustard, gram(chana). Most of the houses in villages have cows, buffalo, goat, sheep and some domesticate camels as well. With the advent of national dairies like Nestle and Amul, Dairy farming has turned out to be a profitable occupation for the villagers. People frequently travel to Hindaun City, Mahu, Todabhim and even Jaipur as they are the nearest markets. Condition of roads is substandard in most of the parts. There is a serious shortage of proper medical facilities in the area and people are forced to go to Jaipur or Delhi frequently for receiving quality medical treatment. The villages are an excellent place for cultural tourism as they are yet rooted in orthodox practices and are untouched from modernization. The clothes of people are typical of their caste. Songs(Gurjar rasiyas)and dance forms are prevalent during weddings and special occasions. Food is mostly seasonal and based on milk or curd.
