Token resistance
Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Token resistance is a term used in scientific literature denoting a rejection of advances, almost always of the sexual kind, with complete and conscious intention of actually engaging in the activity that was initially rejected. It is generally along the lines of a kind of sexual restraint as a means to an end. This serves as an issue in the matter of consent.
Motivating factors
Motivations for this resistance differ with some frequency. Often enough the action seems to be for manipulative reasons, to seem coy or try to influence the desires of another. Some consider practical and/or inhibition related denial to also be within the realm of token resistance, as in both instances the party doing the resisting does say "no" but really intends "yes." [1]
Consequences
One of the main consequences of this kind of action is that it may supposedly encourage the general idea of "no means yes."[1] The strategy might also be detrimental in the long run of the individual's relationship outside of the realm of desire.[2]
