TruJet, brand name of Turbo Megha Airways, is a regional airline based in Hyderabad, India. The airline is a subsidiary of Turbo Aviation, an aircraft maintenance and ground-handling services company. It commenced operations on 12 July 2015 with inaugural flight between Hyderabad and Tirupati.[1] It currently operates to seven destinations in India with a fleet of 3 ATR 72-500 aircraft, with regular cancellations of flights without intimation to passengers.

History

Turbo Aviation started with the manufacturing of ground support equipment in 2003. Turbo Aviation provides ground handling services to SpiceJet, at nine airports in southern part of India.[2] The company received approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) to start scheduled air services in July 2014 and is being promoted by Vankayalapati Umesh and Ram Charan.[3] Turbo Megha identified 18 tier-II city airports in South India to expand the operations.[4] In December 2014, the company sought permission from the Indian Government to import two ATR aircraft in order to qualify for an air operator’s permit.[5] The DGCA issued a Regional Airline Permit to the company on 7 July 2015.[6]
