Trump National Doral Miami is a golf resort in the southeastern United States, located in Doral, Florida. It was founded by real estate pioneer Alfred Kaskel in 1962, with the name "Doral" coming from an amalgamation of the first names of Kaskel and his wife, Doris. It currently has 90 holes of golf and its championship course is the Blue Monster at Doral.

Trump National Doral Miami, formerly known as the Doral Country Club and Doral Golf Resort & Spa, was the sister hotel to the famous Doral Hotel on the ocean in Miami Beach, Florida.

Trump National Doral Miami is today part of the Trump Organization. It was reportedly purchased for $150 million in 2011.[1] In 2012, Trump bought the resort in South Florida out of bankruptcy for $150 million. The 800-acre property includes five golf courses, 700 hotel rooms, has a meeting and conference space, a 50,000-square-foot spa and an extensive retail component. Real estate experts[who?] estimate current[when?] value of the land alone at Doral could exceed $1 billion.[citation needed] Trump has a $125 million mortgage on the property.[2] Since 2012, the Trump Organization has spent over $250 million in renovations.[3]

In 2009, the Pritikin Longevity Center moved its entire operation from Aventura, Florida to the campus of Trump National Doral Miami. The Pritikin facilities (medical, gym, exercise rooms, kitchen, dining room, lecture rooms, and offices) occupy parts of the spa building. Pritikin guests normally stay in the hotel suites (in a building next to the spa building) or in Lodges 2 and 3.

An episode of Celebrity Apprentice airing on January 26, 2015 featured the resort.

Golf courses and tournaments

Trump National Doral Miami features five championship golf courses:

  • The Blue Monster at Doral
  • The Great White Course
  • The Gold Course
  • The Red Course
  • The McLean Course

The Blue Monster played host to the Doral Open on the PGA Tour from 1962 to 2006, and since 2007 the WGC-Cadillac Championship has made its home there after having been played at different venues in the United States and Europe since its inception in 1999.

The resort's other courses have also played host to important events. The Gold Course hosted the PGA Tour's Qualifying Tournament in 1999, and the Red Course hosted The Office Depot on the LPGA Tour in 2000.
