Tudor Grange Academy (formally Leys High School and Kingsley College) is a secondary school and sixth form centre in Redditch, Worcestershire, England. As of October 2010 the school has approximately 1050 students on roll, of which 200 are in the sixth form.[2] The school was designated a Specialist Arts College in September 2003 [3] for the Performing Arts.[2] and became an academy in April 2014.
The school has a Mainstream Autism Base which in May 2004 achieved the Leading Aspect Award. A 2010 Ofsted report accorded the school a Grade 4 (inadequate) leading to a series of staff and policy changes to combat its underperformance, the school being placed into special measures.[4] Its status as a specialist arts college was also lost. In October 2013, Ofsted graded the school as 2 ('Good').[2] Changes however were too late and financial troubles as well as staff changes interfering with certain departments led the decision to become an academy. Tudor Grange Academy is equipped with a dedicated autism centre staffed by two full-time teachers, and has a capacity for ten students.[5]
Partnerships
The school has partnerships with Woodrush High School, the University of Warwick, GKN, Barnardo’s and Ican, a language charity.international partnerships with Independence High School in North Carolina, USA, Kwamfundo Secondary in Western Cape, South Africa.[6]
Curriculum
The school offers core subjects for Years 9–13 the National Curriculum, that culminate in GCSE, A and AS level course, BTEC, and diploma courses.
Theatre
As a performing arts college, the school is a centre for the performing arts in Redditch and operates the Kingsley Theatre on its campus.[7]
