He wields a Wyvern Drag-Ride and the Divine Drag-Ride "Bahamut". His mother died in a carriage accident when he was young, and the people refused to help him out of resentment towards the Royal family, with only Philuffy showing him kindness. 1 "The Crimson War Princess"
"Shu no senhime" (朱の戦姫)
January 11, 2016
5 years ago the Arcadia Empire is overthrown in a Coup d'état and a single warrior using a black Drag-Ride suit of armour wins the battle by destroying 1200 of the Empire's Drag-Ride soldiers and then disappearing. His identity unknown he became known as the Black Hero. In the present a young man with a black sword and a white sword chases a cat and falls through the roof of the Royal Knights Academy bathroom onto a girl with a brand on her stomach. He is arrested and brought before Headmistress Relie Aingram who identifies him as Lux Arcadia, ex 7th Prince of the ousted Arcadia royal family and now working as a handyman. She reveals she had in fact invited him to the academy to work for her. The girl he had landed on is Princess Lisesharte "Lishe" Atismata of the Atismatan Kingdom, and she challenges him to a duel for groping her. The Headmistress doubts Lishe will win as Lux once won a Drag-Ride Tournament and remains undefeated, having earned the title The Weakest Undefeated. Lishe, who has the title Scarlet War Princess, insists on the duel. Lux meets with his sister, ex princess Airi Arcadia, an academy student. She demands he win the duel, as ex royalty they have to pay a massive fine to the current royal family, and if Lux loses the duel and goes to prison, Airi will have to pay the fine by herself. On the day of the duel Lishe and Lux activate their Drag-Rides and begin the duel. At first they are evenly matched until Lux' white sword is broken. He insists on continuing with his broken sword, refusing to use his black sword. Despite now being outmatched Lux will not be beaten, the reason he is called Weakest Undefeated, so Lishe uses her Drag-Ride Raiment ability Sprayshot that crushes Lux with a gravity attack. A strange man uses a horn like whistle to summon a Gargoyle, a low level Abyss dragon. Lux distracts the Abyss and allows himself to be injured, giving Lishe the time to destroy the Abyss with her gun. Lishe begins to fall in love with Lux as he is the first man to ever protect her. Lux dreams about a deal he made years ago and wakes up to Lishe treating his wounds. She asks him to keep her brand a secret, as it is the crest of the ex Arcadia Empire. She then informs him he has been made an official academy student.
2 "The Weakest Drag-Knight"
"Saijaku no kiryū tsukai" (最弱の機竜使い)
January 18, 2016
In class Lux sits next to his childhood friend Philuffy "Phi" Aingram, the Headmistress' sister, which makes Lishe jealous. When the class learn he is an ex prince and a handyman they swamp him with official requests to carry out jobs for them, including Lishe who requests he become her permanent personal assistant and argues with Phi over him. Lux is saved by Krulcifer Einfolk with her own request that Lux find the Black Hero for her. Lux dreams about the deal he made with his brother 1st Prince Fugil Arcadia to take over from their family during the coup d'état, though Lux hadn't wanted to kill anybody. Lux wakes up in his room with Phi in his bed, having not realised that she is his roommate. Lux meets Lishe in the Drag-Ride maintenance room where she is the manager and has fully repaired his broken white sword. She takes him to dinner but forgets her wallet so they have lunch at the town fountain. Lishe reveals that as her father had been leader of the coup d'état she had been kidnapped as leverage against him, but he chose to sacrifice her to win the war. So she was branded with the Arcadia crest as proof she was the Empires property. During the course of her imprisonment she gave up hope of her father rescuing her and had been on the verge of siding with the Empire, though before she could the Black Hero won the war, and with her father dead she replaced him as the new Princess of Atismata and her brand was kept a closely guarded secret. She now feels unworthy of being a princess. In his dreams Lux reveals he too feels unworthy of being a prince, as his brother Fugil had murdered their entire family during the coup d'état, against Lux' wishes. He is awoken by a warning bell. An unidentified Abyss has appeared so Lishe and a team of Drag-Riders are sent to kill it. But the Abyss is being controlled with the horn whistle by Ragreed Forus, a former Drag-Ride Knight still loyal to the defeated Arcadia Empire. The Abyss splits into hundreds of smaller Gargoyles and Lishe is overwhelmed by Ragreed, who forces her to remember he was the soldier who branded her. Lux arrives in time to save Lishe and finally unsheathes his black sword, transforming into a jet black Drag-Ride and revealing himself as the Black Hero. He easily destroys all the Gargoyles and kills Ragreed with his Black Hero Divine Raiment ability Reload on Fire, which compresses time allowing him to move at super speeds. Airi laments her brother is not a Hero, he is the Weakest Undefeated Drag-Ride Knight who betrayed his own Empire.
3 "The Lady of the North's Engagement Conditions"
"Kita no reijō no kon'yaku jijō" (北の令嬢の婚約事情)
January 25, 2016
Lux is hailed as a hero for defeating Ragreed. Lishe and everyone else who now know he is the Black Hero have agreed to keep his secret. At a party for him Lux is swamped with admirers and even more job requests. The Headmistress sets up a game. Lux is told that the girl who manages to steal a red request form from him within one hour will get Lux as her personal servant for an entire week. Lux runs away with every girl in the academy chasing him. He is trapped by Lishe using her Drag-Ride but tricks her into releasing him. He is then captured by Phi using her martial arts but also tricks her into letting him go. With only ten minutes left in the game he hides in an empty room, but realises it is actually a changing room when several girls enter including Krulcifer who strip to their underwear. Despite hiding from them he is spotted by Krulcifer who lets him remain hidden until the others leave. Claiming the game is over she asks to see the red form and he hands it over just as the bell sounds, signalling the real end of the game. Lux had been tricked and Krulcifer now gets him to herself for a week. She asks him to be her lover, shocking him. Lux and Airi meet the Headmistress who had retrieved the horn whistle used by Ragreed and believes it is the key to a secret hidden in the ancient ruins and asks Lux to go there and find out if she is right. Airi warns Lux to be careful with Krulcifer as she is a noble lady of the foreign Ymir Theocracy. The next day Krulcifer explains that as a noble she is expected to marry another noble and will soon meet with her future fiancé. Wanting to avoid this she asks Lux to pose as her boyfriend. Lishe becomes jealous and informs Krulcifer she and Lux have already held hands, revealing her total ignorance of how babies are conceived. Phi reveals she and Lux had kissed as children. Krulcifer takes Lux on a date but they are attacked by thieves. Krulcifer uses her Drag-Ride Divine Raiment ability Wise Blood, which can see into the future, and defeats them. They meet Alterize, Krulcifer's female butler, who is shocked Krulcifer has a boyfriend. Later their group is interrupted by the arrogant Lord Kreutzer Balzeride, Krulcifer's potential fiancé and member of one of the four noble houses of Atismata. Krulcifer refuses to consider marrying him, claiming Lux is her boyfriend. Outraged Krulcifer would choose an ex prince over himself Kreutzer challenges Lux to a duel. Lux and Krulcifer will duel Kreutzer and Alterize in a 2 on 2 duel in 3 days.
4 "The Sixth Ruin -Miniature Garden-"
"Dai roku iseki - hakoniwa -" (第六遺跡 - 箱庭 -)
February 1, 2016
Kreutzer discusses the importance of the ancient ruins with a hooded man. Lishe is happy Lux is not really dating Krulcifer. Lux is exhausted from all his job requests. Tillfur Lilimit, a friend of Lishe, drags him to her room where she, Lishe and Phi are dressed as maids to help him relax. At Castle Atismata the four noble families discuss the Ragnarok's, immensely powerful Abyss dragons imprisoned beneath every ancient ruin across the country. One such Ragnarok, Poseidon, may soon escape and the new Kingdom of Atismata does not have the military power to stop it. Kreutzer is tasked with investigating the ruins and retrieving weapons potentially powerful enough to kill a Ragnarok. The Headmistress gathers Lux, his friends and several other students to prepare to investigate the ancient ruins. As the Horn Whistle is the key to entering the lower levels of the ruins she entrusts it to Lux. Krulcifer is also part of the team, though she admits she has her own reasons for joining them. Phi gets into the bath with a flustered Lux who notices an old scar on her back has disappeared. Phi implores Lux to be careful in the ruins as the Headmistress has forbidden her from going with him. Kreutzer reveals he will be joining Lux and his team to the ruins, angering Krulcifer. At the ruins which are surrounded by a giant crystal barrier the team is immediately attacked by a Diablos level Abyss powerful enough to destroy cities. The Abyss almost breaks Lux' white sword and only Krulcifer is fast enough to shoot it using her Wise Blood ability. Kreutzer suddenly announces that if Lux defeats the Abyss before he does he will call off their duel and admit Lux is the victor. Krulcifer shoots at the Abyss but finds she has lost her Wise Blood ability. Kreutzer succeeds in killing the Abyss which explodes violently. Krulcifer struggles to control her Drag-Ride and Lux must shield her from the explosion which destroys his white sword. Lux and Krulcifer are suddenly sucked inside the crystal barrier and head for the alter at the centre of the ruins. Despite having lost a lot of energy Krulcifer is determined to achieve her own objective within the ruins so Lux helps her keep walking. Lux asks why Krulcifer asked him to find the Black Hero. Krulcifer believes that the Black Hero is capable of piloting his Drag-Ride indefinitely, whereas most people would eventually run out of power and deactivate. She hopes to find that the Black Hero is the same as she is. They arrive at the alter but before Lux can unlock it with the whistle it unlocks automatically for Krulcifer, who reveals she is not from their world and is a surviving citizen of the ancient ruins.
5 "The Girl's Wish"
"Shōjo no negai" (少女の願い)
February 8, 2016
With the alter unlocked the building starts collapsing and Lux and Krulcifer become trapped by rubble. Krulcifer explains she was found as a baby by the Earl of the Ymir Theocracy who adopted her thinking she might be valuable. Krulcifer worked hard to fit in and became a Drag-Knight, which only further alienated her from her jealous siblings. She wanted to come to the ruins to prove she was human, but now accepts she is not. Lux insists he values her for who she is even if her family don't. Lux reveals how he, his mother and sister were banished from the royal family because of his grandfather. When Lux' mother was injured in an accident the people who suffered under the Empires cruelty refused to help her and she died. Phi became Lux' only friend. Lishe appears and frees them. Back at the academy Airi scolds Lux for breaking his white sword again. Lux hides the truth about Krulcifer and claims the Horn Whistle is not a key to the lower levels. Krulcifer has Airi drug Lux so he will miss the duel with Kreutzer and she fights Kreutzer alone. Krulcifer once again loses her Wise Blood ability and is defeated. Kreutzer admits he knows Krulcifer is a citizen of the ruins and plans on using her as a tool to control the advanced technology and weapons. Lux suddenly attacks Kreutzer, revealing his Black Hero form to Krulcifer. After Kreutzer uses Wise Blood to deflect Lux' Reload on Fire Lux realizes Kreutzer's Raiment allows him to steal the Raiment's of other Drag-Rides. Kreutzer attempts to shoot Krulcifer, forcing Lux to protect her so Kreutzer can steal his Reload on Fire. Kreutzer reveals his plan to use the advanced technology to destroy the Ragnarok's, reasoning that sacrificing Krulcifer is a small price to save an entire kingdom. Lux begins to run out of power. Krulcifer begs him to stop fighting for her sake. Seeing her cry, Lux states it is his duty to protect his girlfriend and activates a secret technique he designed himself, Recoil Burst, that focused all his remaining energy to a single attack, defeating Kreutzer. At the academy Lux is informed by Alterize that as he himself claimed Krulcifer was his girlfriend and defeated her previous fiancé he is now officially engaged to Krulcifer. Krulcifer admits she actually found Lux' bold attempt to protect her irresistible and kisses him twice in front of a furious Lishe.
