The 1964 United States presidential election in Texas was held on November 3, 1964. The Democratic Party candidate, incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson, comfortably won his home state of Texas with 63.32% of the vote against the Republican Party candidate, Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, giving him the state's 25 electoral votes.[1] Johnson carried 238 out of the state's 254 counties, and all 23 congressional districts. 1964 marks the last time a Democratic candidate for president would win Texas by double digit margins.
