VTV, which stands for Vanderbilt Television, is an American student university Student television station channel that originates on the campus of Vanderbilt University located near the Music Row and downtown sections of Nashville, Tennessee, USA. It airs on Vanderbilt University’s on-campus cable system on channel 12, and it is viewed worldwide via their website (see above).

History

It began in September 1985 as Vanderbilt Video Productions. The only focus back then was to videotape events organized by other student organizations to create a video yearbook.

It finally expanded into an on-campus television station in 1992 and its focus shifted into producing original programming for the then-new channel. The name VTV, which stands for Vanderbilt Television, was chosen for the channel in 1997. Since then, VTV has a staff from 75 to 100 students who would serve as on-air talent for the channel, as well as technicians, program crew members, and producers of the programming.[1]

Availability

Students attending Vanderbilt University, and living in the on-campus residential halls can access VTV via channel 6 on the on-campus cable system. The only way to view the station off-campus is via the station’s online stream at their website (see infobox above).[2] Programming can also be accessed on-demand on their website as well.
