Vallakkunnu is a small village in the state of Kerala, India, with a population of around 600 families.It is surrounded by other villages such as kallettumkara,muriyad,thommana and thazhekkadu.The nearest towns are Irinjalakuda and Chalakkudy.The village also holds a portion of Muriyad wetland system, a part of Vembanadu kol lands(Ramsar site).
The population contains 35% Hindu and 65% Christians. One or two members from 50% of families are in away from the village, working in foreign countries. The people of Vallakkunnu are well educated; the average education of those under 50 years of age is 10th standard.
The village is a residential area, bounded by paddy fields in all sides. There are no other industries, service-oriented firms or schools nearby. chicken stalls, pork stalls,vegetable/grocery stores, banks, bakerys & hospitals. It is cool & calm place for reside, just 9 km to NH47 & 17 km to NH17. Chalakkudy Munnupedika SH passes through this village. The nearest railway station is just 1 km ahead. All express & passenger trains have stop at this railway station except Super-Fast Trains.
