Vehicle registration plates of Pakistan

Vehicle registration plates of Pakistan come under the jurisdiction of each of the provinces and territories. Eight types of plates are used in Pakistan. The federal government issues number plates for foreign diplomats (red) and by the military, police and departments (green). All number plates use the Latin alphabet.

Types

Each province and territory has its own vehicle registration plate design.

Azad Kashmir		Plates are white with black letters and numbers. Mainly from Muzaffarabad and Mirpur, Azad Kashmir
Balochistan		Plates are white with black letters and numbers.
Gilgit-Baltistan		Plates are white with black letters and numbers.
Capital Territory		All plates are white with black letters and numbers
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa		Private vehicles - white plate with black letters. Commercial vehicles - yellow plate with black letters. KP Government Vehicles - green plate with white letters. Plates issued from Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Abbottabad, Bannu, and Kohat.
Punjab		On 1 January, 2007 Punjab began issuing official number plates for all cars registered in Punjab. Number plates are of green and white colour. The green part is the same all over Punjab and has a sign and 'Punjab' written on it, while the white part has the number of the vehicle.
Sindh		Private Vehicles - Yellow plate with embossed black letters/numbers. Commercial Vehicles - Black plate with embossed white letters/numbers. Plates start with alphabets (beginning with AAA) followed by a string of numbers (beginning with 001). Logo of Government of Sindh is printed on top of each plate issued. Where as vehicles that belong to the government have a green number plate with embossed white letters. Plates start with alphabets (GS) (GP) (GL) HC for high court (SP) for sindh police followed by a string of numbers.
