His role in Ugly (2014) even gave him his first Screen nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Early life

Vineet is from Varanasi, born in a Kshatriya family. He was interested in sports and even played Basketball on a National level for Sub Junior and Mini level.[3] But later realized that his height can be a hindrance for him to play Senior level Nationals. His father was a noted mathematician and therefore his family had an academic background. He wanted to join National School of Drama but due to parental pressure and social norms he could not pursue the same. He is CPMT qualified and topper from his medical college. He has done his masters in Ayurveda from Nagpur. He is a licensed medical practitioner with a MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Ayurveda. He started his career as an Assistant Director despite being a licensed medical practitioner with a MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Ayurveda.[4][5] He has also spent few years of his life in Haridwar and moved to Varanasi for study purpose.

Career

For his love for films, he came to Mumbai and participated in Superstars – Talent Hunt where he met Mahesh Manjrekar. For initial years of his career he worked as an Associate/Assistant Director for Mahesh Manjrekar in Marathi films and Hindi films like Viruddh(2005) and Deh. After 2007 Singh left direction and focused solely on acting. After doing several hit and miss roles in about 18-20 films including films like Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Isaaq, he got his break in Marathi bilingual City of Gold(2010). It was after this only that he got the chance to meet ace director Anurag Kashyap. Kashyap was surprised that such a rare talent like Singh didn’t come to him yet. So after that he went for an audition, and got the role of his dreams: Danish Khan in GOW2. Even amongst actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Piyush Mishra, Richa Chadha Vineet was noticed. His effortless portrayal of Danish Khan bagged him some more challenging roles in movies like Bombay Talkies (2013) where he got a chance to work with legend Amitabh Bachchan and Ugly (2014) which gave him his first Screen nomination. According to Vineet, “I feel privileged to be a part of Bombay Talkies which was made in honor of celebrating 100 years of India Cinema. I am really glad that almost everyone in the industry has seen this movie and noticed its nuances.” Slowly and gradually even the Advertising industry is also noticing this gifted actor’s worth and so he was even part of Birla Sunlife and 7up Nimbooz commercial. Vineet’s future work includes movies like Aur Devdas directed by renowned director Sudhir Mishra. He is going to be seen in crime narrative The Field.

Vineet will also be seen opposite Raima Sen in Bollywood Diaries, which is directed by K.D. Satyam and is releasing in Feb 2016. The film also stars Ashish Vidyarthi and Salim Diwan.
