Voghiera is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Ferrara in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northeast of Bologna and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) southeast of Ferrara. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,924 and an area of 40.5 square kilometres (15.6 sq mi).[1]
Geography
The municipality of Voghiera contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Ducentola, Gualdo, Montesanto, and Voghenza. Of these, Voghenza (in Latin, Vicohabentia) was once a residential bishopric, which is now included in the Catholic Church's list of titular sees.[2]
Voghiera borders the following municipalities: Argenta, Ferrara, Masi Torello and Portomaggiore.
