Licensed to Springfield, Ohio, USA, it serves the Miami Valley area as its second oldest Christian radio station (WFCJ-FM 93.7 in Dayton went on-air January 7, 1961). The station is founded and owned by World Evangelistic Enterprise Corporation and as of September 2007, it now broadcasts in High Definition. Its new studios and offices along with its transmitter are located on Troy Road (State Route 41) in Springfield, almost directly across the highway from its original location a mile northwest of the Upper Valley Mall. The original transmitting tower is currently in use by W244BR (96.7 mHz),the Springfield translator of parent station WYDA the Troy/Dayton affiliate of K-LOVE.

History

WEEC was formed in March 1961 and first hit the airwaves on December 15 later that same year..at first as a commercial station. All secular programming and commercial announcements were eliminated just one year later on December 15, 1962.

Paul Pontus, Dwight Coffelt, a local Springfield businessman, and Glenn Greenwood,a local Springfield pastor, founded WEEC.

WEEC began broadcasting in HD in September 2007.

On February 13, 2008, WEEC became a part of Strong Tower Christian Media which includes WFCJ-FM 93.7.

According to a Dayton Daily News story dated July 16, 2012, WEEC announced it will be moving its studios to Xenia in 2013. Although the transmitter will remain in the city of license of Springfield, the move will leave the local community with only one other station with a live local studio being that of Wittenberg University-owned WUSO at 89.1 FM
