WSWI (820 AM and 90.7 FM HD2) is a radio station broadcasting an Alternative format. Licensed to Evansville, Indiana, USA, the station serves the Evansville area. The station is currently owned by University of Southern Indiana Board of Trustees and features programming from AP Radio.[1]

History

WSWI started life as WIKY, which began broadcasting in August 1947 on 820 kHz with 250 W power.[2] It was sold to the University of Southern Indiana when WIKY became an FM station[citation needed].

WSWI on FM

In 2010, WSWI and WPSR, a local, non-profit station like that of WSWI, teamed up to provide The Edge Radio with an FM signal on HD2. Because of the team up, WSWI can now be heard on AM 820 and 90.7 FM HD2. However, in order to listen to The Edge Radio on HD2, a person must first buy an HD radio, which sell for a wide range of prices.

Broadcasts

The Edge Radio currently produces a morning show titled, "The Way Too Early in the Morning Show" from 7-9AM central time with host Rizzo. Previous hosts Andrew Bolin and Nino Orsby were both awarded "Best Radio Personalities" for 2008 and 2009 by the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters.

Each weekday morning, The Edge presents local, state, national, and international news at 8:00 and 9:00 AM.
