William E. Peck was born in New York City, New York, on September 13, 1849. He is the founder of Pomfret School in Pomfret, Connecticut, a small boarding school. Peck founded the school in 1894 with his wife Harriet Jones Peck; prior to that, from 1883 to 1894 he served as headmaster of St. Mark's School in Southborough, Massachusetts. William died at Pomfret School for Boys (as the school was originally called) on January 7, 1897.
