Women and Equalities Committee

The Women and Equalities Committee is a select committee of the House of Commons in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was established following the 2015 general election to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of the Government Equalities Office on equalities (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, disability and transgender/gender identity) issues.
Transgender issues
The Committee's Chair, Maria Miller has announced that it will be examining the rights of transgender people who are married and, under the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013, require their spouse's consent to change the status of their marriage.[1]
