World Council of Arameans (Syriacs)

World Council of Arameans [Syriacs] ,[1] (Syriac: ܚܘܝܕܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ ܬܒܝܠܝܐ‎ [Ḥuyādā Suryāyā Tbelāyā] Error: {{Transl}}: unrecognized language / script code: Aramaic-syr (help)) earlier known as Syriac Universal Alliance, was founded in 1983 in New Jersey, USA. It is an ethnic Aramean (also known as "Syriac") umbrella organization for Arameans and Syriac-Arameans and for all Aramean organizations throughout the world.[1]

Mission

"The World Council of Arameans (Syriacs) is dedicated to answer the call to protect and secure the rights, liberty and equality of the Aramean people, safeguard and promote the cultural heritage of its ancestors, ensuring justice, and uniting all its people as a self‐determined and internationally recognized Aramean nation."[3]

  • Syriac Association of Australia
  • Syriac (Aramaic) Association of America
  • Aramean Federation of Belgium
  • Syriac Association of Vienna, in Austria
  • Aramean (Syriac) Federation of Holland
  • Aramean (Syriac) Federation of Germany
  • Aramean (Syriac) Federation of Switzerland
  • Aramean Association of the United Kingdom[4]

Countries from which new Member Organizations may join WCA in 2011-2012 are:

  • India
  • Syria
  • Israel
  • Turkey
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon[4]
