Yakub (Arabic: يعقوب‎‎, also transliterated as Yaghoub, Yaqoob, Yaqoub and Yaqub) is the Arabic version of Jacob, the name of a biblical patriarch also venerated as a Prophet of Islam (see Jacob in Islam) and hence commonly used as a male given name in Arab and Muslim societies. It is also used as a surname.
