'Ysabella Brave, born December 4, 1979) is an American YouTube personality, vocalist, singer and songwriter[1] signed by Cordless Recordings, a division of the Warner Music Group. She was discovered through the popularity of her YouTube channels, Ysabella Brave[2] and ysabellabravetalk.[3]

Career

Brave was signed as a recording artist for Cordless Recordings, an e-label of the Warner Music Group.[4]

Brave is mentioned prominently in the book YouTube for Dummies, written by Doug Sahlin and Chris Botello and published by Wiley Publishing, ISBN 978-0-470-14925-6. Brave is also mentioned prominently in the book 15 Minutes of Fame: Becoming a Star in the YouTube Revolution, written by Frederick Levy, ISBN 978-1-59257-765-1.[citation needed]

In June 2007, she was 27 years old, worked as a fraud analyst for Yahoo! and took classes at San Jose State University.[5][6]

Brave was a finalist in the Miss Horrorfest 2006 contest.[7]

Youtube videos

Brave was a YouTube personality.[8] She posted the first videos of herself singing on YouTube on July 14, 2006. Most of her songs are accompanied by prerecorded music tracks, but some are a cappella. Her singing genres include blues, jazz, the Great American Songbook, rock, soul, R&B, and pop music, amongst others, as well as some of her own original lyrics and music.

After over a year of regularly posting videos, Brave built up a large following on YouTube. Her Ysabella Brave channel has 34,281 subscribers.[9] Brave's videos were viewed 9,338,637 times, as of September 26, 2007.[citation needed]

Brave's second YouTube channel, ysabellabravetalk, was created on February 25, 2007, to separate her music and comedy videos from those in which she expresses personal opinions on subjects raised by her viewers, and her vlogs. The first video on her talk channel was posted on March 4, 2007. As of October 16, 2010, this second channel has 13,701 subscribers.[10]

Brave's most popular video is "Everyday Bravery" on her ysabellabravetalk channel. It currently has 828,365 views (August 20th, 2013).[citation needed]

Controversy

In 2008, Ysabella began posting videos less frequently and dealt with video take downs of much of her content. Sometime later, Ysabella stated she was very ill and was having difficulty singing. She basically became inactive soon after.

Away from Youtube, Ysabella began asking for donations for medical expenses. She often communicated with fans via Facebook. Fans noted she seemed different, and that money donated seemed to 'go in a black hole.' Ysabella refused to make a video explaining her situation and would angrily fire back as those who questioned her.

When the situation began picking up traction, Ysabella made a video for the first time in years, in May of 2015, titled, "NO, I AM NOT DEAD", claiming she was in fact sick and that donations went to her directly for medical treatment. In the video, she calmy states she understands why there have been questions and that this "is your answer." Some comments on the video noted how she seemed "understanding" in the video, but had previously lashed out on other media platforms.
