Zeek is a mobile application that helps consumers sell their unwanted gift vouchers and cards to other consumers who are interested in them, at a discount.

Overview

The Zeek marketplace is a web-based and mobile app platform open to both buyers and sellers, and offers a secure platform for voucher transactions. Sellers scan their vouchers, determine the asking prices, and put them up for sale on the marketplace. Buyers search for vouchers by brand name and purchase them. In addition, Zeek helps buyers and sellers keep track of their vouchers with its eWallet feature.

The mobile application, supported by Android and iPhone, uses a API that converts all types of physical gift vouchers into digital versions, which instantly also become valid in the relevant stores. The web-based platform allows buyers to buy vouchers and use them online. Zeek is powered by technologies including Node.js, AngularJS and Couchbase.

Awards

On May 20, 2014, Zeek entered the Tel Aviv Innovation Day Contest at Tel Aviv University, competing against 40 other start-ups. Zeek was awarded third place in the contest, just after Udobu (1st place) and WhoDoYou (2nd place).

History

Zeek was established in 2013 by Daniel Zelkind, Itay Erel, Ziv Isaiah and Uri Levine, co-founder of Waze. In January 2015 Zeek Mobile app was launched in the United Kingdom and in September 2014 they extended their technologies and marketplace to include a desktop application in the UK. In December 2015 they were featured on Sky and CNBC and launched their #ZEEKFACE campaign which ran until January 2016.
