Reto-Moto is a video game developer based in Copenhagen, Denmark.[1]

History

Zyrinx was a video game developer founded in 1992 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It consisted exclusively of people who had been active in the Amiga demo scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including composer Jesper Kyd.[2]

The first game developed by Zyrinx was Subterrania for the Sega Mega Drive. During the development the team relocated to Boston. Later, the team developed the games Red Zone and Scorcher. Zyrinx's 3D rendering technology was showcased in a Sega 32X promotion video.[3] The team dissolved in 1998 because their publisher Scavenger went bankrupt.[2][4][5]

In 1998, the Zyrinx team reformed under the name Reto-Moto[6] and went on to create IO Interactive and the Hitman series of games. In April 2008 the Reto-Moto team[7] announced they had reformed the company and are working on multiplayer focused games.

The Reto-Moto development team was originally founded by members of Zyrinx and Lemon in 1997 and was responsible for the creation of IO Interactive and the Hitman series of video games.[8] Reto-Moto announced it had reformed in April 2008 with the intention of creating multiplayer focused games.[9]

In September 2010, Reto-Moto launched the website for their game Heroes & Generals.

The developer name is referenced as an easter egg in a Kane & Lynch: Dead Men level, where the player must raid the Retomoto Tower.[10]
