The 1993 Brownlow Medal was awarded to Gavin Wanganeen from the Essendon Football Club for being the best and fairest player during the 1993 Australian Football League home and away season. Wanganeen was the first Aboriginal player to win the Brownlow Medal in the history of the award; and, at age 20, was the youngest winner since Denis Ryan in 1936.[1]
