Alum Rock (BART station)
Alum Rock BART station is a planned underground Bay Area Rapid Transit station in eastern San Jose, California. It will be the first station of the Phase II portion of the Silicon Valley BART extension. It will be located near Highway 101 and Santa Clara Street.[1] The station will have direct service to Santa Clara, Richmond, and San Francisco/Daly City. It will be preceded by the Berryessa BART station.
History
Currently an extension is being built from Fremont to Warm Springs station in the Warms Springs District in Fremont, this will be followed by the Berryessa Extension into eastern San Jose. The Alum Rock station was originally going to be part of this extension however funding could not be secured. Therefore the San Jose extension was split into two phases. This station will be located between the Berryessa and Downtown San Jose Station. This station will connect with the VTA buses.
