American Ethanol is a collaborative-effort marketing campaign intended to increase awareness of the reliability, performance capabilities and affordability of American-made E15 ethanol.[1] Growth Energy, an ethanol industry group, and the National Corn Growers Association formed the American Ethanol partnership.

American Ethanol and NASCAR®

American Ethanol has been an official partner of NASCAR since the start of the 2011 racing season.[2] As part of the American Ethanol partnership, NASCAR has been fueled by Sunoco Green E15 for the past two seasons. The racing fuel is made up of 15 percent American-made, corn-based ethanol. This fuel has been used in all vehicles racing in: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™, NASCAR Nationwide Series™, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series™. NASCAR has run more than three million miles on Sunoco Green E15 racing fuel.[3] Drivers hit this threshold in mid-September 2012 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH[4] American Ethanol is also a key component of NASCAR Green[5]

During the 2012 racing season, American Ethanol sponsored three Camping World Truck Series races, the American Ethanol 200 (summer), the American Ethanol 200 (fall) and the American Ethanol 225. American Ethanol has sponsored Austin Dillon and Kenny Wallace during several races, including Dillon's rookie year in Sprint Cup.

Sponsorship Presence

American Ethanol has a presence across all levels of NASCAR racing. Since the start of the 2011 season, the American Ethanol logo is visible on the fuel ports of all racing vehicles in the Sprint Cup Series, XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series. The green flag used across all racing levels is also sponsored by American Ethanol. At each race, the driver with the fastest restart lap is awarded the American Ethanol Green Flag Restart Award. At the end of the season, a driver from each series is awarded the season American Ethanol Green Flag Restart Award. Jimmie Johnson won the award in 2012.[6]

E15 National Sweepstakes

During the 2012 season, American Ethanol partnered with NASCAR and Turner Sports for its first national campaign and sweepstakes. Running during the TNT Summer Series, the American Ethanol E15 Campaign and Sweepstakes promoted E15 as a nationwide fuel alternative and allowed fans to enter to win one of three Chevrolet Silverados. The media campaign included a commercial featuring American Ethanol No. 3 driver Austin Dillon, and advertised the American Ethanol Facebook page.[7]
