Antonio Lozada jr., (born on May 15, 1992, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico) is a Mexican professional boxer in the Light Welterweight division and is considered one of the best prospects to come from Mexico. Lozada is the current WBC FECARBOX Light Welterweight Champion.[1]

Personal life

Nicknamed Cañitas after his father Cañas which is Spanish for Grey Hair. His father is a boxing agent, Antonio Lozada sr. who mans the career of Lozada jr. and also of newly crowned three time world champion Humberto Soto as well as practically every top prospect in the Mexican town of Tijuana which includes Marvin Quintero.[2]

Pro career

Antonio is an undefeated fighter in the Light Welterweight division, who turned professional at only sixteen years of age.[3] His eighteenth Victory came in Cozumel, Mexico going the distance with Tomas Sierra of Toluca.[4] In 2009 he was not very busy due to a nasal operation but in October of that year he fought Salvador Carreon winning by T.K.O. in the third round.[5]

He went on to headline his first Nationally televised fight card in April 2010 on Televisa.[6] Where he won the WBC FECARBOX Light Welterweight Championship by defeating the veteran Colombian Henry Aurad (12-2-1, 9KO) by T.K.O. at 2:10 of the second round.[7]

On June 25, 2011 Lozada faced then-undefeated Roberto Ortiz for the WBC Silver Light Welterweight Championship.[8][9]
