The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) was established in 1924. It supports and coordinates the activities of its constituent motoring clubs, and aims to represent the interests of Australian motorists both nationally and internationally.[1] The President of the AAA is Ross Herron, with Peter Joyce serving as Vice President.[2]
The association considers the national road toll and road safety as significant issues and has contributed to safer roads and safer vehicle campaigns.[3]
The AAA has conducted studies on fuel prices and concluded that supermarket fuel discount vouchers are misleading motorists into believing they are making greater savings than they actually are.[4] They have also warned motorists that fixed-price servicing deals which include capped pricing can end before expensive routine maintenance is required.[5]
International membership
The AAA is a member of the Alliance Internationale de Tourisme (AIT) and the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).[6]
