Ayub Shah, a son of Timur Shah, ruled Afghanistan from 1819 to 1823. The loss of Kashmir during his reign opened a new chapter in neighboring Indian history. In 1823, he was imprisoned by the Barakzai, marking the end of the Durrani dynasty. He fled to Punjab after buying his freedom and died there in 1837.[1]
