The P60B40 is the V8 Powerplant of the E46 BMW GTR. The race engine config in the ALMS GTR produced 444-470HP.
Usage
The P60B40 was the powertrain for the BMW E46 M3 GTR from 2001 to 2005. The BMW M3 GTR competed in the GT2 Class of the American Le Mans Series in 2001. The BMW M3 GTR won the series in its class that same year. Regulations for the 2001 Le Mans 24-hour race (and the American Le Mans Series) stated that a car had to be for sale on two continents within twelve months of the rules being issued.
An evolution of this engine powers the BMW E92 GTR. The E92 P65 has a 92mm bore and 75mm stroke.
