Barry John Maister, ONZM (born 6 June 1948 in Christchurch) is a former field hockey player from New Zealand, who was a member of the national team that won the gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.[1] He is also a current member of the International Olympic Committee.

He worked as school teacher for much of his career, and was a secondary school principal for 15 years.

During his hockey career he played 85 games for New Zealand, and was selected for four Olympic Games.[2]

Maister was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2012 New Year Honours, for services to sport.[3]

Maister has been an International Olympic Committee member since 2010.[2]

He is a brother of New Zealand hockey players Chris and Selwyn Maister.
