Bearsted F.C. is an English football club located in Bearsted, near Maidstone, in Kent. The club plays in the Kent Invicta Football League. Bearsted has been playing football at a county level in Kent since the 1970s, winning leagues and cups in the Kent County Football League system, particularly during the 1980s.[1] The club was accepted into the newly formed Kent Invicta Football league for the inaugural 2011–12 season.

History

Bearsted Football Club was formed in 1895.[1] After World War II, the team continued playing in the Maidstone & District League, becoming champions of Division Six in 1961–62.[1][4] They were champions of Division Three in 1973–74, Division Two in 1974–75, and Division One in 1977–78, being promoted to the Premier Division.[4] Once in this division they won three successive titles between 1980 and 1982.[1][4] This helped them achieve promotion to the Kent County League Division Two West, which they won the following year.[4] This was followed in 1983–84 by the Division One West title, which secured their promotion to the Premier Division West.[5] Bearsted then won the Premier Division West in 1986–87, winning promotion to the Senior Division West, which they won in 1987–88.[5] After the Kent County League went through a restructuring, Bearsted were again in Division One West, which they won in 1996–97.[4] This led to the club playing in a county-wide league for the first time: the Kent County League Premier Division. Bearsted were crowned champions of the Premier Division in 2000–01 and 2001–02.[1] They reached the semi-finals of the Kent Senior Cup in 1999–2000.[1] For the 2011–12 season the club was accepted into the Kent Invicta Football League at level 10 of the English football league system for its inaugural season.
