Beavercreek Township is one of the twelve townships of Greene County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 41,745 people in the township, 3,063 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township.[3]

Name and history

Beavercreek Township was established in 1803 at a meeting in a log house on the Beaver Creek.[5]

It is the only Beavercreek Township statewide.

Government

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer,[6] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.

Education

Beavercreek Township is in close proximity to Antioch College, Cedarville University, Central State University, University of Dayton, Wilberforce University, and Wright State University.

Beavercreek City School District consists of 1 middle school part of the issue on November 4, 2008, where Beavercreek residents passed a $84 million bond issue that will be used to build an elementary and middle school and renovate buildings district-wide.[7]
