Besim Bokshi

Besim Bokshi (Serbian: Бесим Бокси, Besim Bokši; born 1932) is an Albanian poet, linguist and philologist. Currently he is the president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.[1]

Career

Besim Bokshi was born in Đakovica, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. His family moved to Albania when he was a child and he finished elementary education in a school in Dukat, a village near Vlorë. A few years later he studied in Tirana.[2]

In 1945 he returned to Đakovica and studied at the faculty of arts of the University of Belgrade. In 1966 he finished his doctorate in philology in the University of Pristina, where he works as a lecturer since 1974.[2] He is a member and president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, while in the past he has served as its vice-president.[2]
