Bob Moses is a Canadian electronic band, originally from Vancouver, British Columbia. The band consists of Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance and formed in a New York apartment in 2012, before releasing their debut EP Hands to Hold[1] on Brooklyn based label Scissor & Thread in October 2012. Soon after the release of this first EP, they went on to deliver a second, Far from the Tree before signing to Domino Records in March 2014.

Since signing to Domino Records the band have released First to Cry EP followed by their debut album Days Gone By.

The band has been featured as one of the Top 20 live acts by Resident Advisor in both 2014 and 2015.[2]

On the live front, Bob Moses has performed and headlined some of the most prestigious events and venues in the world, including Bowery Ballroom, TomorrowWorld, Fabric and many others. In 2016 they were announced to play at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonaroo as well as prestigious European festivals including Sonar and Melt!.

Bob Moses has been featured heavily on BBC Radio 1, including an Essential Mix,[3] live performance from Maida Vale Studios.[4] In addition to this they have also been featured on shows such as Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW, and recorded a live session for KEXP.

In January 2016 Bob Moses also appeared and performed on The Ellen Show,[5] after being personally picked by Ellen DeGeneres to feature - they performed "Tearing Me Up".

Background

Vallance originally started his career making trance and progressive house music, with early success at the age of 18 with releases on the likes of Ultra Records and remixes for Sia[6] and her record "Buttons" alongside Chris Lake and Markus Schulz.

Having both pursued solo careers under various monikers, Vallance and Howie finally reunited in a Lowe's car park by accident in New York.[7] Soon after they shared a flat together before working on music for the first time as Bob Moses.

Having become friends with the likes of Frank & Tony, Black Light Smoke, K7! Records as well as notable after-hours brands such as City Fox and daytime establishment All Day I Dream, run by Lee Burridge - they recorded their first vocal featuring on a Frank & Tony release.

Personal life

Vallance is son of Jim Vallance and Rachel Paiement, both of whom have a prestigious history within the Canadian music scene. Tom attended Berklee College of Music before moving to New York to pursue his career as a singer.

Vallance lives in Brooklyn, New York whilst Howie lives on Pender Island, British Columbia.
