Carl Johan Gunnar Persson (December 14, 1919 – November 6, 2014) was a Swedish jurist and politician. Persson served as the Commissioner of the Swedish police from 1964 to 1978.[1] His highest profile investigations during his tenure as National Police Commissioner included the hijacking of Scandinavian Airlines System Flight 130 to Bulltofta Airport in 1972, the Norrmalmstorg robbery in 1973, and the West German Embassy siege by the Red Army Faction in 1975.[2]

Persson also served as the Governor of Halland County from 1978 to 1979 and the Governor of the former county of Gothenburg and Bohus from 1979 until 1980.

He published his memoirs, "Utan omsvep," in 1990.[2]

Persson died on November 6, 2014, at the age of 94. He was survived by his wife of 70 years, Titti Persson.[2]
