This category is for holders of a post which has existed since 1922. For holders of the 1801–1922 post of Attorney-General for Ireland, see Category:Attorneys-General for Ireland

Since the 1937 Constitution, the Attorney General has been an ex officio member of the Council of State. Of the six previous Attorneys General (of the 1922–37 Irish Free State), two never served on the Council of State: James Geoghegan and John O'Byrne; the other four eventually did so.
