Members of the House of Temenggong of Johor traced their descent back to Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim–who in turn was also descended from a family of Temenggongs who dominated the politics of the Johor-Riau empire. Sultan Abu Bakar, the 21st Sultan of Johor was the founding patriarch of this house. The current Sultan is Sultan Ibrahim Ismail of Johor.
