Etymology
The word Chalisgaon is a combination of two Marathi words Chalis + Gaon, In Marathi,Chalis means Forty and Gaon means Villages hence the name can be interpreted as Forty Villages.

Chalisgaon is one of the important railway junctions under Bhusawal division of Central Railways. Situated on the Mumbai-Bhusawal railway line, this junction offers connectivity to Dhule. A slip route of around 57 km is connected to Dhule city from Chalisgaon. Trains stopping at Chalisgaon include Punjab Mail, Jhelum Express, Vidarbha Express, Howrah Mail Via Alahabad, Howrah Mail Via Nagpur, Sevagram Express, Nagpur Pune Express, Maharashtra Express, Bhusaval Pune Express, Dadar Amritsar Express, Janata Express, Kashi Express, Kamayani Express, Shalimar Express, etc. and some summer special trains E.g. Chalisgaon is at the junction of important highways viz. NH-211 Dhule-Aurangbad-Solapur, SH-18 Malegaon-Chalisgaon-Pachora-Bodwad-Nagpur and SH-24 Chalisgaon-Nandgaon.
