Climax is a village in Lone Tree No. 18, Saskatchewan, Canada. The village is located in the southwestern region of the province, just north of the U.S. border, situated on Highway 18 (E-W) between Frontier and Canuck and on Highway 37 (N-S) between Shaunavon and the Port of Climax.

The current head coach of the Vancouver Canucks, Willie Desjardins, is from Climax.

Demographics

In 2012, Climax had a population of 82 living in 37 dwellings, a -55.7% decrease from 2006. The village has a land area of 1.00 km2 (0.39 sq mi) and a population density of 182.7/km2 (473/sq mi).[1]

In mainstream culture

  • The town features in the board game Trivial Pursuit, which asks what features on the reverse of the town welcome sign; the answer is:
"Come again!".[citation needed]
  • The town is mentioned in the popular US political drama The West Wing in Season 6, Episode 17 : "A Good Day". A humorous sub plot in the episode follows Deputy National Security Advisor Kate Harper reluctantly dealing with the escalation of a confrontation and hostage taking between ranchers on either side of the Saskatchewan / Montana Border. Another government official updates Ms. Harper by saying "A sawmill in Climax is piling on". Harper, unsure where Climax is, responds: "Is that us or them?".[citation needed]
