Dalmau is a town and nagar panchayat in the Rae Bareli district of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Geography

It is located at Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found.[1] and has an average elevation of 115 metres (377 feet).

Cultural significance

It is considered to be a holy place, situated on the banks of the river Ganges. The famous poet and writer Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala' wrote poems sitting on the top of the fort built by the King Dal Dev.[citation needed] The town is also featured prominently in his eponymous biography of his friend Kulli Bhaat.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Dalmau had a population of 8,968. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. It has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72% and, female literacy is 53%. In Dalmau, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
