Danielle Mia Prince (born 12 June 1992 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) is an Australian individual rhythmic gymnast. She is a three time Australian National All-around champion.
Personal life
Prince started gymnastics at Splitz Club with her previous coach, Sam Bridges. She now trains at Moreton Bay College gymnastics under her current coach Gina Peluso. Prince has two sisters, and her hobbies include dancing to jazz, ballet and tap. She is currently enrolled at the University of Queensland.[1] Her gymnastics idol is former Bulgarian World Champion Simona Peycheva.
Career
Prince was introduced to rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 11 years, her dance teacher suggested that she try the sport because of her natural flexibility and skill.
Prince has appeared in senior international competitions since 2009. She has competed in 6 World Championships (2009 in Mie, 2011 in Moscow, 2013 in Kiev, 2014 in Izmir, 2015 in Stuttgart). Prince was member of the Australian Rhythmic Gymnastics Team (together with Janine Murray, Naazmi Johnston) that won team gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India. She has also competed in numerous Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup. Prince finished 9th in the all-around at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Prince competed at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships where she finished 6th in the all-around and won bronze medals in apparatus finals in ball, clubs and ribbon. Prince also qualified through a wildcard entry for the 2016 Rio Olympics as being the highest-ranked rhythmic gymnast in the individual all-round event from the Oceania region.[2]
