Danske Commodities (dc) is an international trader of energy-related commodities such as electricity, gas and climate market products. The company is domiciled in Aarhus, Denmark, and currently employs over 350 people.

History

Danske Commodities was founded in 2004 by Henrik Lind and was registered on 23 September 2004.[2]

The company’s activities began by trading electricity across the border between Germany and Denmark, with the first trade implemented on 1 November 2004.

Having started out with trading on the ‘Day Ahead’ power market, dc moved into the intraday power trading market in the summer of 2007. In 2009, gas trading and wholesale services (including risk & portfolio management for companies and suppliers) were added to the company’s business activities.

In 2010, the number of employees had doubled[3] from 30 to 60, with carbon trading added to the company’s activities. In 2011 the company added renewables and accreditation services.

2012 saw the acquisition of a cogeneration plant at the Technical University of Denmark, north of Copenhagen.

In March 2013, dc announced the formation of a new Board, chaired by founder Henrik Lind. In August 2013 dc opened its office in Hamburg.

dc is currently active in over 33 European countries and employs over 350 people.
