The Dhakar (also known as Dhakad or Dhaker)[1] are a community in India and are today considered by anthropologists to be a non-elite group.[2] In the state of Chhattisgarh they have been designated since at least 2007 as an Other Backward Class in the Indian system designed to aid positive discrimination.[3] They have been similarly classified in Madhya Pradesh[4] and in Rajasthan[5] since at least the 1990s.
