A graduate of Brown University (class of 1984), Nesselbush worked as executive director of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence from 1984 to 1991. A founding partner of the law firm of Marasco & Nesselbush, she has been an active member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, chairing its social security committee. Nesselbush won both the primary and general elections unopposed.[1]

Nesselbush is openly gay.[2] She is one of four openly LGBT members of the Rhode Island General Assembly, Reps. Gordon D. Fox (D–Providence), Frank Ferri (D–Warwick) and Deb Ruggiero (D–Jamestown).
