Dora Township is a township in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 726 at the 2000 census.

Dora Township was organized in 1879.[3]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.8 square miles (93 km2), of which 28.9 square miles (75 km2) of it is land and 6.9 square miles (18 km2) of it (19.24%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 726 people, 305 households, and 239 families residing in the township. The population density was 25.1 people per square mile (9.7/km²). There were 900 housing units at an average density of 31.1/sq mi (12.0/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.48% White, 0.83% Native American, and 0.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.41% of the population.

There were 305 households out of which 22.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.5% were married couples living together, 3.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6% were non-families. 17.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.69.

In the township the population was spread out with 20.2% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 31.1% from 45 to 64, and 22.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 110.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.3 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $37,159, and the median income for a family was $44,500. Males had a median income of $36,875 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the township was $20,479. About 7.2% of families and 9.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.6% of those under age 18 and 5.8% of those age 65 or over.
