Elisa Herrero Uceda (Ceclavín, Cáceres, Spain, 1957) is a Spanish writer. She loves read poesy in the lyric meetings that she offers along with his brother Miguel Herrero Uceda. Both of them are committed to the defence of the environment and the conservation of popular traditional culture. They have written articles and books on natural and the rural culture.[1]

Elisa Herrero studied Biology (BSc Biochemistry) at the Autonomous University of Madrid (1975–1980). His PhD research was conducted at CBMSO and concerned the scientific field of neurobiology; Subsequently, she moved as a postdoctoral researcher at the Medical Research Council of Cambridge (England). She is also engineer in computing by the Technical University of Madrid, but at the same time she has not forgotten the traditional knowledges of the old people she knew at her country when she was a child. She told about it in her books, and in her tales.[2]

On 31 May 2014 she organized, along with her brother a meeting of Extremaduran writers from inside and outside of Extremadura, in Ceclavín (Cáceres).[3][4][5][6] She collaborates in the annual activitis of the Semana Complutense de las Letras at the Complutense University.[7] She is also the sister of painter Antonio José Herrero Uceda

Play

  • Soy mujer, soy tierra (I am a woman, I am earth). 5 March 2016 took place the premiere of the play, during The Week of the Woman, Coslada 2016. It was organised by the City Council of Coslada and the Regional House of Extremadura in Coslada to celebrate the International Day of the Woman.
