Empezar Desde Cero (English: Start From Zero) is the fifth studio album released by Mexican pop band RBD, released simultaneously in Mexico and the United States on November 20, 2007.

Album information

During the first worldwide "RBD Day" press conference, on October 4, 2007, RBD confirmed the name of the album and announced it would have its release on November. Later it was confirmed that it was going to be released on November 20, 2007.

Empezar Desde Cero was produced by Carlos Lara. This album includes more self-written songs and solo parts than before, some having full solo songs. On the previous albums, it was Christopher and Alfonso who were lacking in solo-tracks, now both have written their tracks which are featured on the album; "Sueles Volver", composed by Christopher and "Si No Estás Aquí", written by Alfonso. A demo version of the first leaked onto internet on May 2007, even before the album was announced. Maite's solo song "Tal Vez Mañana", which also leaked along with "Sueles Volver", is not included on the standard album.

Wal-Mart released the official tracklist, while OpenDisc released a similar track listing with three songs having altered names behind the original.

In Wal-Mart stores, there is an enhanced album which features a bonus DVD entitled Así Es RBD.[1] The bonus DVD features a one hour never before seen footage, videos, soap scenes and performances.

The first single promoting the record is "Inalcanzable" a song written by Carlos Lara, which was released to radio stations on October 8, 2007. On January 29, 2008, Esmas announced the second single was "Empezar Desde Cero", after being chosen by fans through an online poll on the group's official website.[2] Meanwhile, in Colombia, "El Mundo Detrás" was released as a single, and reached the Top 5 Charts, while "No Digas Nada" was chosen the second single for Brazil and reached the Top 10 in many radio stations.

On June 21, RBD released Empezar Desde Cero Fan Edition in Mexico. It included three bonus tracks on the CD and a bonus DVD. The new tracks were "Te Daría Todo" and "Tal Vez Mañana", written and sung by Dulce María and Maite Perroni, respectively. The third bonus track was the single "Elige Estar Bien", featuring Kudai and Eiza "Lola" González. The DVD features videos from Empezar Desde Cero ("Inalcanzable", "Empezar Desde Cero"), the making of those videos, and karaokes. This album was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, Duo or Group.

"Empezar Desde Cero" is RBD's second studio album and first Spanish album to not have a Portuguese-languaged version released on Brazil.

In 2009, the song "Nací Para Amarte" was leaked onto the internet, and it was confirmed by member Maite Perroni that it was recorded in the "Empezar Desde Cero" sessions. Besides, there was a song that was reportedly written by Anahí and Dulce María.

In total, the album has sold 102,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.[3]
