Eric Appel (born August 13, 1980) is a writer/director working in television, film, commercials and internet videos. He has written for MTV's Human Giant, The Andy Milonakis Show and Crank Yankers, and directed episodes of the US version of The Office, Workaholics, NTSF:SD:SUV, Eagleheart, Blue Mountain State, Death Valley, New Girl, Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Selfie, Benched, and Growing Up Fisher.

After attending high school in Endicott, New York, Appel graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in animation. While in college, he became involved with the long running improvisation comedy show at the University of Pittsburgh, Friday Nite Improvs. After graduation, Eric moved to New York City and began taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.[1]

After moving to Los Angeles, Appel created an original series for Super Deluxe, and worked as a staff writer/director at the comedy website Funny or Die, before pursuing television directing full time.

Eric is currently serving as the Director and Executive Producer of the upcoming series, Son of Zahn.[2]
