Eurobasket.com is a basketball-centered website that aims to provide coverage of all the professional and semi-professional leagues around the world. Although primarily focusing on European basketball, it is associated with several different regional websites for North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Eurobasket.com claims to cover basketball in 193 countries and 435 leagues around the world, with over 382,000 player profiles updated daily.[2]

History

The website started operating in March 1997. In 2010, it was incorporated into Hong Kong based web programming company Sports I.T. Solutions.[2]

Operations

The news content is provided by free-lance contributors (around 268 according to the website) who follow track news on basketball events and players to post transfer news, game results and their own selection of All-Star teams for the different leagues.[3] On occasion, the league itself can provide the correspondents for news on its activities and results (as with Midwest Professional Basketball Association).[4]

The site also hosts a database of thousands of coaches and players in activity or formerly active in leagues around the world, with some of that content being accessible only through subscription, as with sections aimed at professional basketball players, coaches and agents.[4]

Summer league

Eurobasket.com has also organised the Eurobasket Summer Leagues, which are yearly summer leagues in the United States that tour around the world to help free agents find professional clubs overseas. The events, catering to men and women, have hosted players from lesser known backgrounds (NCAA Division III colleges for example) to enable them to gain more exposure.[5][6]
